When we were conducting interviews. One of the candidates was asked why she applied for the job, and she said she was “ Trying her luck”.

My initial thoughts were an indication of a lack of seriousness by the candidate.

However, as I have thought about it. It makes me realise that. We are living in a world where we are all trying our luck. it works out, you are glad. It doesn’t you quickly move on.

In reflection, she gave us an honest answer as inappropriate as it sounded.

It makes me realise that knowledge and honesty applied wrongly will not get you anywhere or anything.

Use your honesty wisely and when an opportunity to sell yourself arises make the most of it.

Through observation, you will notice that having a lot of different pieces of information and knowledge adds value to you as a person because of the depth it brings into your life. However, failing to notice an opportunity to apply your knowledge and skills is costly.

It gets you nowhere.

Furthermore, knowledge application and communication skills go hand in hand. You cannot divorce the two.

There is no point in having knowledge if you cannot apply it or convey and disseminate the information to other people.

For information to be valuable. It must be communicated and in the the appropriate format.

By the way. In case you are wondering. She didn’t get the Job despite being a good candidate for the position.

Let me know your thoughts. Are you trying your luck ?
